Strategic Creativity: Red Walls, Designer Necklaces & Triqui Presented by Linda Ford at the 2016 America’s Essential Hospitals Conference in Boston, MA
$25 million in debt. A poor hospital image. High donor mistrust. Donations to Natividad Medical Foundation (NMF) of $11/month.
As Natividad Medical Center, Monterey County’s essential hospital located in “America’s Salad Bowl,” began a dramatic financial turnaround, its foundation hired a seasoned fundraising expert to tell Natividad’s story and lead a philanthropic turnaround.
The turnaround was fueled by a core strategy of disruptive creativity. Philanthropists responded. This resulted in NMF’s most successful fundraising year ever, with an 840 percent increase over 2006!
Physicians, patients, and donors came together to give birth to solutions that unite and heal communities. Programs like Art for Better Health, The Onyx Fund for Women, and internationally-recognized Indigenous Interpreting+ transformed public hospital health care into healing.
