Nine indigenous interpreters have completed 6-month training program through Indigenous Interpreting+®
To date, nine indigenous language speakers have completed the paid, 6-month training program through Indigenous Interpreting+. One of the first graduates, Angelica Isidro, Co-Founded Indigenous Interpreting+ and continues to interpret for Mixteco-speaking patients at Natividad Medical Center. Brigida Gonzalez went on to become a full-time interpreter for Natividad Medical Center.
Triqui interpreters Sergio Martinez and Israel De Jesus are enrolled at Hartnell College and work part-time for Indigenous Interpreting+, assisting new mothers with the tablet-based parent education program on the Mother-Infant Unit at Natividad.Sergio wants to become a doctor, and Israel plans to become an architect.
Indigenous Interpreting+ is currently recruiting for additional trainees.
