Join us for the inaugural session of The Indigenous Interpreter: A Credentialed Training Program, sponsored by Indigenous Interpreting+
We are proud to announce the inaugural session of The Indigenous Interpreter: A Credentialed Training Program, sponsored by Indigenous Interpreting+. This 21-module training program was created specifically to address the unique challenges indigenous interpreters face in the field. It is designed for indigenous interpreters speaking languages from Mexico and Central America. The training will be given in English by bilingual (Spanish-English) instructors.
This is the first curriculum of its kind to train indigenous interpreters on consecutive relay interpreting in community settings, adapt healthcare interpreting protocols to relay interpreting, and address simultaneous interpreting for indigenous languages. Every module includes targeted guidance for overcoming the barriers indigenous interpreters face daily when interacting with providers, patients or clients, and the many service settings they work in.
Graduates of the program will receive the Indigenous Interpreting+ National Credential: Level 1 Qualification. This course is the first of its kind, and offered free of cost to interpreters.
Please contact Judith Pacheco, Indigenous Interpreting+ Interpreter Coordinator, at (855) 662-5300 or firstname.lastname@example.org for more detailed information about training content, travel, lodging, proficiency testing, and any other questions you may have.
We have listened to our participants’ suggestions about how to make this Course better fit their busy schedules. As a result, the Training content and number of hours will be the same, but it will be condensed into 9 days (instead of 10) and will run from January 9 – 18: Monday-Saturday, Sunday off, and Monday-Wednesday from 8:30am-5pm. If you have any questions, please contact us anytime at 855-662-5300 or email@example.com. Thank you!
